What is the WILpower program?

The Patrick Women in Logistics Management Program is a two-year structured program that will provide successful applicants with the opportunity to develop relevant skills through hands on experience, guided mentoring and operational rotations.

Where will the WILpower positions be located?

We are recruiting for each of our container terminal operations located in Port Botany in Sydney, Fisherman Islands in Brisbane, East Swanson Dock in Melbourne and Fremantle in Western Australia.

What roles will Operational Cadets undertake?

The successful candidates will rotate through a range of operational and business support roles in our container terminals. Participants will be trained on how to manage and coordinate teams to meet our customers’ needs and Patrick safety and operational requirements.

How will I be notified if I have been selected to attend an on-site interview or complete an aptitude test?

You will be notified via email with all the relevant instructions and updates throughout the recruitment process.

What equipment do I need to complete the aptitude test if I am selected to do so?

You will need access to a computer with a stable internet connection.

What is the working environment like in the container terminals at Patrick?

Our container terminals are blue collar environments predominately staffed by men. The terminal operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and incorporates shift work including nights, weekends and public holidays. As the work requires staff to move between the wharves, equipment and the cargo holds of ships, it is a potentially hazardous work environment with strict safety procedures. Workers on the terminals wear protective clothing such as hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and reflective jackets.

Why is the WILpower program targeted exclusively at women?

We are specifically targeting women to address the gender imbalance in our workforce and strive towards delivering equality.

When will I complete my tertiary qualification?

Our Operational cadet roles will be provided with the opportunity to complete study at the Australian Maritime College. Study will be completed in your own time, and you will be required to manage both work and study commitments.

If I decide to withdraw from the program prior to the 2 year completion will I be required to pay back any funds for the tertiary qualification?

Any payments for study may be subject to recovery should a participant leave before the end of the program.

What happens once I complete my 2-year program?

You will have the opportunity to progress into suitable roles across the Patrick business. We will begin this process before the end of the 2-year program based around operational requirements and locations.

Will relocation be paid for if I need to relocate for this role?

Patrick will not be offering relocation assistance for these positions.

Will I be required to pay for my Personal Protective Equipment that is required to be worn on site?

No, all Protective Equipment will be provided by Patrick.

When will I receive my offer contract if I am successful?

Patrick will aim to complete the recruitment process within 4 weeks from the close of applications. Our team will provide regular updates throughout the recruitment process to all candidates.

A Letter of Offer, along with any other relevant employment documents will be issued to successful candidates once the recruitment process has been completed.
