What is the WILpower program?
The Patrick Women in Logistics Management Cadetship is a two year program that will provide ten women with the opportunity to develop relevant skills through hands on experience and tertiary study. Upon completion of the program, cadets may be considered for operational management roles within the Patrick organisation.
Where will the Management Cadetships be located?
Two cadets will be recruited for each of our container terminal operations located in Port Botany in New South Wales, Fisherman Islands in Queensland, East Swanson Dock in Victoria and Fremantle in Western Australia.
Alongside the terminal cadets, two women will be recruited for the National Operations Centre – located on Queen St, Melbourne CBD.
What roles will cadets undertake?
The successful candidates will rotate through a range of operational and business support roles in our container terminals. Cadets will be trained on how to manage and coordinate teams to meet our customers’ needs and Patrick safety and operational requirements.
Cadets working in the National Operations Centre will take on multiple responsibilities relating to scheduling, reporting, market analysis, business support, marketing, customer engagement, and commercial support analysis.
I understand candidates will undertake a tertiary qualification as part of the Management Cadetship program, what if I am already qualified?
The tertiary qualification has been specifically developed to provide a unique experience tailored to Patrick and the Logistics industry. As a result, this qualification will be second to none in the skills and knowledge it provides for understanding how to lead from the front line in our organisation.
How will I be notified if I have been selected to attend an information night or complete a video interview?
You will be notified via email with all the relevant instructions and updates throughout the recruitment process.
What equipment do I need to complete the video interview if I am selected to do so?
You will need a stable internet connection, and access to a device with the ability to record and stream video.
What is the working environment like in the container terminals at Patrick?
Our Container Terminals are blue collar environments predominately staffed by men. The terminal operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and incorporates shift work including nights, weekends and public holidays. As the work requires staff to move between the wharves, equipment and the cargo holds of ships, it is a potentially hazardous work environment with strict safety procedures. Workers on the terminals wear protective clothing such as hard hats, safety boots, safety glasses and reflective jackets.
Why is the Management Cadetship targeted exclusively at women?
We are specifically targeting women to address the gender imbalance in our workforce and strive towards delivering equality.
If I am invited to attend an information session at the relevant site I am applying to, do I need to attend?
Yes, this is compulsory. These sessions provide key insights into the working environment at Patrick and provide you with an opportunity to meet our team and understand our business. This is important as it allows you to assess whether you would be a good fit within Patrick.
Do I need to be available for the allocated assessment centre dates at the site I am applying to?
Yes you need to be available to attend to be considered for the role.
When will I complete my tertiary qualification?
The qualification will be completed in your own time and you will be required to manage both work and study commitments.
If I decide to withdraw from the management cadetship prior to the 2 year completion will I be required to pay back any funds for the tertiary qualification?
Any payments for study may be subject to recovery should a cadet leave before the end of the program.
What happens once I complete the 2 year Management Cadetship?
You will have the opportunity to apply for suitable roles, if available, across the Patrick business. We will begin this process before the end of the 2 year program.
Will relocation be paid for if I need to relocate for this role?
Patrick will not be offering relocation assistance for these cadetships.
Will I be required to pay for my Personal Protective Equipment that is required to be worn on site?
No, all Protective Equipment will be provided by Patrick.
When will I receive my offer contract if I am successful?
A Letter of Offer, along with any other relevant employment documents will be issued to successful candidates once the recruitment process has been completed.
